ItвЂ™s a great place to wander around looking for better loot and alchemy ingredients. YouвЂ™ll also encounter no obnoxiously high level monsters. Exploring this area isnвЂ™t the chore that it is in other regions (Velen particularly). The вЂњtutorial areaвЂќ, known in game as White Orchard, is in my opinion, the least unnecessarily huge and one of the best laid out regions in The Witcher 3. The choice is yours! General Gameplay Tips You can even customize whatever map icons you see on the minimap. Navigation can be a bit tricky without it but it makes exploration more rewarding.ДЄ compromise between the above two options might be disabling points of interest on the world map but keeping the minimap enabled so that question marks show up during exploration. Fortunately you donвЂ™t need map markers to do this. Generally speaking, interesting buildings and landmarks contain more interesting loot/quests than your average question mark so I would recommend visiting them. Just get lost and stumble upon things by accident. I recommend turning off вЂњpoints of interestвЂќ on the map completely, and maybe from the mini-map as well. Most of them are boring and the loot you get from main and sidequests is adequate enough already. The vast majority of these will have around 4вЂ“6 enemies of the same type and will yield either experience and/or loot and/or the directions (a new map marker) to another loot stash and/or some flavour text which may or may not be interesting. The Witcher 3вЂ™s map is littered with question marks a.k.a. In Game Map (M on keyboard, in menu on controller): I see no reason not to use this unless you like role playing as a drunk person.Д®nemy Upscaling: On - If you donвЂ™t like the feeling of steamrolling every enemy in sight due to being overleveled (it will probably happen), this can help Movement Response: Alternative - this simply makes Geralt easier to control, particularly during exploration. You donвЂ™t use your brain a lot in this game so any kind of challenge is a good thing. The Witcher 3вЂ™s combat isnвЂ™t amazing but on higher difficulties it keeps you on your toes and makes you less likely to zone out. Once you become fluent in the swordplay (give it time, you will) and get some decent gear, consider raising the difficulty to as high as you can handle.

The combat takes some getting used to and you start the game doing measly damage and taking a good deal of it even from low level enemies. In Game SettingsДifficulty (selected from title menu or on start of new game): Story and Sword is a great place to start. In any case, see this as a selection of suggestions that you can take or leave and tweak to your own liking. I donвЂ™t know if this will appeal to many people, or anyone for that matter, because this list is based on my own taste. The point is to cut down on mindless chores, to make the exploration feel a little more organic (think Gothic 2 or Morrowind) and a little less like Ubisoft style map cleaning and to keep you awake enough to be able to enjoy what the game does well - storytelling, C&C (choice and consequence) and atmosphere, in case you were wondering, and maybe the combat if you can lower your standards a bit. Put simply, this is a list of mods, interface tweaks and gameplay suggestions for people like myself : those who think that The Witcher 3 has redeeming qualities and want to be able to enjoy it but never make it very far into the game because the experience is ultimately brought down by a lot immersion breaking and tedium inducing design decisions.
